A Financial Guardian\"\" has a\u00a0myriad of responsibilities to handle. If the ward\u2019s living situation isn\u2019t safe or suitable, the Guardian should pursue moving the individual to a home or facility which provides supervision, medical care and socialization.<\/p>\n

The Guardian\/POA must coordinate the relocation:<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n
    \n
  • Moving\u00a0 parent\u2019s possessions to the new location<\/li>\n
  • Inventory contents of home<\/li>\n
  • Engage relocators to select furniture & possessions suitable for new smaller home<\/li>\n
  • Monitor relocators who distribute remaining home contents to relatives or charity<\/li>\n
  • Engaging certified real estate appraisers to determine value of home<\/li>\n
  • Working with real estate agent to sell the home<\/li>\n
  • Working with elder law attorneys to file Court motion for approval to sell home<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The Guardian has additional responsibilities:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    • Locating assets of ward<\/li>\n
    • Budgeting for the ward\u2019s personal & health needs<\/li>\n
    • Investing liquid assets<\/li>\n
    • Maintaining real estate of ward<\/li>\n
    • Review terms of traditional or reverse mortgages<\/li>\n
    • Review and update of all insurance policies<\/li>\n
    • Preparing court accountings<\/li>\n
    • Handle tax matters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
